What is an IM file?

IM files mostly belong to Trainz. IM files are mostly used as mesh files in the Trainz simulation game. They store 3D model data that defines train models, scenery, and other simulation objects.
When used in Trainz, these files include geometry data, texture mapping, and metadata for simulation behavior.
Other uses include:

Image file – Some variants use GZIP compression to hold graphic data. This type works with software like ImageMagick.

How do you open IM files?

The remaining 24% of all IM files are different files with different signatures, often, for example, Applix bitmap, GZIP and SPEC.
