What is a PAR file
How to open a PAR file

PAR file format:
To find out what program is needed to open PAR files, you need to determine the file format. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below you will find our evaluation of the PAR files:
The PAR extension is very commonly found and covers different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all PAR files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". PAR files contain an app name Solid Edge. The unique Windows component object identifier is 23c52e80-4698-11ce-b307-0800363a1e02. The file contains several sections which are named like Display, DocVersion2, JSitesList, PARASOLID, PSMcluster0, PSMroots, BuildVersions, PSMclustertable, PSMspacemap, PSMtypetable, PSMuserroots, C3teagxwOttdbfkuIaamtae3Ie, DocumentSummaryInformation, Dynamic Attributes Metadata, K4teagxwOttdbfkuIaamtae3Ie, Rfunnyd1AvtdbfkuIaamtae3Ie, SszbwomgY1udb2whAaq5u2jwCg, Versions, JVisibleData, MSConvertedPropertyset and PartsLiteData. A typical file size is 470 KB. The file type is old but is used even today. These files are often associated with body, shaft, housing, frame, pieza, plate, base and none.
- 20% of all PAR files are associated with PAR compressed archive. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are 280 KB to 200 MB in size, with a median of 27 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as PARC. An example of a file name is mesh.par or VID00000.par. These files can be linked to sound, sprite, chara, font, camera, mahjong, battle, yazawa and boot.
All other PAR files (55%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. ZIP, JetDB, XML, Java, ELF, Application, Date, SERCOS, DOS and OPE. Often described as data, hitemp, uxnmr, backup, auto or ggsn. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your PAR file!

a par parchive index is a special file format by Peter Clements and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with PAR files
- Associate the PAR file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open parchive indexes. Because only the current version supports the latest PAR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Peter Clements manufacturer website after an available QuickPar update.
- To make sure that your PAR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PAR file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
