What is an SRM file?
How do you open SRM files?
You need a suitable software like Snes9x to open an SRM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SRM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SRM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

SRM file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the SRM files produces the following result:
The SRM file ending includes very many different file formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 10% of all SRM files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "4D 43 00 00 00 00 00 00" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. Most of these files are 130 KB to 130 KB in size. These files are often associated with disc and tekken.
- 8% of all SRM files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "DNZ" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 420 KB and 420 KB in size. A common filename is AudioJungle.srm.
The remaining 82% of all SRM files are files with no common format, the following 4 formats can be found: JSON and HAL. Often described as sonic, super, mario, pokemon, legend, knuckles or zelda. Just click the "Choose your .srm file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your SRM file is.

- To make sure that your SRM file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
