What is a TRC file?

TRC files mostly belong to SQL Server by Oracle. A TRC file contains a trace log created by the Analysis Services tool in SQL Server relational database management system. A trace log consists of error messages and information about the state of the database in the event of an unsuccessful database transaction. TRC is also the filename extension of a trace log containing diagnostic data used to identify a bug in Oracle Database. How can I open a TRC file?

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Such TRC files store data about deadlock, profiler, bosfrontsql, analysis, blocking, dellmpand, snapshot, member, record, tarce, thtxn, info, ritm and sync.

The remaining 50% of all TRC files are files with no common format, such as Track Row Column markers data format, DOC, UTF-8, FILEVERSION, WAVEDESC, Trace, UTTH and trc.
