Opening a VEH File
The VEH file type is primarily associated with Simulation Software.
What is a VEH file?
They contain information such as performance parameters, physical properties, and skinning data required for simulations. Some VEH files use a JSON-based format, as seen in PTV Vissim, while others serve as basic configuration files for racing simulations.
Key uses include:
FilExt.com note: Editing these files demands caution, as improper changes can affect vehicle performance in simulations.
How do you open VEH files?
You need a suitable software like Simulation Software to open a VEH file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VEH file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VEH file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

How to extract texts from VEH files or capture a screenshot to PDF, JPG, DOCX, TXT, ...
You can extract texts from VEH file or capture a preview screenshot using our online VEH file viewer:- To do so, click the "Choose your .veh file to view" button above.
- After your file is opened in browser,
- click "Save as..." in the menu.
- Then choose the file format (e.g. JPG, PDF, DOCX, TXT, ...) you want.
- Your file will be converted and downloaded.
Programs that open and convert VEH files:
- Simulation Software
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. VEH files are often referred to as Simulation Software data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

VEH file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the VEH files looks like this:
The VEH file extension does not have a uniform file format. The file formats most commonly found in VEH files are:
- 15% of all VEH files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "// // " at the beginning. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The average file size is 1 KB with most files being between 1.6 KB and 1.8 KB in size. This file type was primarily in use more than 10 years ago. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. // The first section defines what maps to load for the new vehicle skinning, // technology. The first line defines a "prefix" to be used for all generic maps and // Currently, generic maps are used. Such files are related to ferrari.
- 15% of all VEH files start with the magic bytes DefaultLivery=", which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. VEH files can be up to 1 KB in size, but are often around 600 bytes - 1 KB. The files contain the following words: DefaultLivery, Graphics, HDVehicle, Spinner, GenString, Cameras, Extra and Sounds. These files are attributed to mercedes.
The remaining 70% of all VEH files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. JSON. They are often associated with gpxa, mrwa, christiania, vehinfo, cykel or truck. Just click the "Choose your .veh file to view" button on this page to find out what your VEH file is.
Technical Data for VEH File Extension
a veh configuration file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with VEH files
- Associate the VEH file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open configuration files. Because only the current version supports the latest VEH file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Simulation Software update.
- To make sure that your VEH file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
