VMO file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the VMO files comes to the following conclusion:
The VMO file extension is not common and is used by different programs with different formats. The file formats most commonly found in VMO files are:
- 30% of all VMO files start with the magic bytes Nemo Fi, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 99 KB to 10 MB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. The following keywords are characteristic: Nemo Fi. Some examples of file names are SuperSpy_master.vmo or SBShrinkSink.vmo. These files can be linked to master, sbmonopoly, super, sbshrink and sink.
- 15% of all VMO files are Emergency people animation data files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are 1 KB to 1 MB in size, with a median of 260 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. VMOTC, pelvis and anchor.
The remaining 55% of all VMO files are files with no common format, such as SOMV. If you want to find out which format your VMO file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .vmo file to analyze".
