What is a WRP file

WRP files mostly belong to Qualify by 3D Systems. WRP is the file extension for 3D models or graphics generated from scanned or imported data using a proprietary 3D model format supported by digital shape sampling and processing software such as Wrap, Qualify or Studio developed by 3D Systems. The data in Wrap (WRP) files consist of CAD models, NURBS data, 3D meshes, point clouds and much more. The WRP file extension was also associated with Amiga Forever, a software that emulates the operating system of a series of 16 and 32 bit computers that were discontinued in 1996. The compressed archives created by Amiga operating systems have WRP file extension.

How to open WRP files

You need a suitable software like Qualify to open a WRP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the WRP files is as follows:

An WRP file is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 40% of all WRP files start with the magic bytes RGI, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. WRP files can be up to 4 GB in size, but are often around 4 MB - 150 MB. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. Files like these are sometimes connected to defeature, scan, geometry, points, impeller, merged and body.
• 30% of all WRP files start with the magic bytes OPRW, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The file size is in the range of 10 MB to 220 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: OPRW and 0FNE. The file name dz_map.wrp or exclusionzone.wrp is typical for these files. These files can be linked to chernarus, plus, chernarusplus, deerisle, altis, nhchernobyl, island and emita.
