AFL file format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the AFL files:
The AFL file extension is very common and covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in AFL files:
- 25% of all AFL files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "_SECTION_BEGIN(" at the beginning. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The average file size is 2 KB with most files being between 420 bytes and 22 KB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. The following keywords are characteristic: _SECTION_BEGIN, SetChartOptions(0,chartShowArrows!chartShowDates);, NAME, StrFormat and Title. These files can be linked to scanner, sell, trading, system, myfav, trend, prospects, quasimodo, volume, index and super.
- 10% of all AFL files start with the bytes _SECTION_BEGIN(, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The average file size is 1 KB with most files being between 440 bytes and 1 KB in size. The keywords SetChartOptions(0,chartShowArrows!chartShowDates);, _N(Title = StrFormat("{{NAME}} - {{INTERVAL}} {{DATE}} Open %g, Hi %g, Lo %g, Close %g (%.1f%%) {{VALUES}}", O, H, L, C, _SECTION_BEGIN("Price");, FORLIVE = ParamToggle("FOR LIVE?","No!Yes", 1);, RSIPERIOD = Param("RSI Period", 14, 1,100,1);, RSI_FROM = Param("RSI FROM", 55, 1, 100, 1);, RSI_TO = Param("RSI and _SECTION_BEGIN( "RSI SCANNER" ); are typical for these files. A common filename is Zero2heroScanner.afl or CAMRILLA.afl. Files like these are sometimes connected to hero, zero, breakout and weekly.
All other AFL files (65%) have no consistent format, the following 10 formats exist: Source, XML, Set, GraphXSpace, RLT, ParamField and DFRF. Often described as high, pivots, indicator, supertrend, explorer or market. If you want to find out what your AFL file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
