What is a CPI file?

CPI files mostly belong to Premiere Pro. CPI is a filename extension for the video clip information file located in the AVCHD/BDMV/CLIPINF directory of AVCHD digital video recording devices such Sony Handycam and Panasonic camcorders. A CPI file contains metadata such as the capture date, aspect ratio, frame rate, and frames per second of recorded video clips. CPI file extension is also associated with the Cartesian Perceptual Compression (CPC) image compression format. CPC Lite, a browser add-on for viewing documents stored in CPC format can be used to open CPI compressed documents. Calamus SL, a vector graphics design tool aslo saves vector images in CPI files. MS-DOS version 3.3 and higher use CPI files to store page information. Such CPI files consist of source code for configuring system propertires such as keyboard mappings, font characters, fullscreen modes etc.

How can I open a CPI file?

You need a suitable software like Premiere Pro to open a CPI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CPI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CPI file directly in the browser:. 7% of all CPI files are using the well-known FreeArc file format to store the data. FreeArc is a modern open source file archiver which narrowly outperformed WinZip, 7-Zip, and WinRAR in its "best compression" mode. They consist of unreadable binary data. The average file size is 6 GB with most files being between 130 MB and 29 GB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as storing. Some examples of file names are data1.cpi or data.cpi. Files like these are sometimes connected to english, optional and voice.

How to solve problems with CPI files
