What is a CSO file?

CSO files mostly belong to PSP ISO Compressor by danny_kay1710. CSO (sometimes CISO) is a file extension used by compressed 3D shader object files created using Visual Studio. The CSO format is derived from a High Level Shader Language (HLSL) file written in Microsoft's proprietary shading language format (used by DirectX). After being compressed, the CSO file has the same base name as the HLSL file but has a much smaller size depending on the level of compression. The CSO file extension is also associated with compressed disk image (ISO) files. Compressed CSO disk images contain PlayStation Portable (PSP) game archives which can be played with a PSP emulator or a PSP device running a custom firmware.

How to open CSO files

You need a suitable software like PSP ISO Compressor to open a CSO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 60% of all CSO files are CISO Compressed ISO CD image files. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters.
