What is a D00 file?

D00 files mostly belong to DXL-LogViewer. D00 files are used in specific systems and come in two main forms:

Danfoss Compressor Data Log File: This file records operating data from compressor systems. It is read by DXL-LogViewer and stores measurements that help in monitoring compressor performance and diagnostics.

FarStone Virtual Drive Archive: This file is part of a virtual CD system. It acts as a segment of a complete virtual disk image and works with the FarStone VirtualDrive application.

How can I open a D00 file?

You need a suitable software like DXL-LogViewer to open a D00 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. D00 file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our analysis of the D00 files produces the following result:

D00 is not a common file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in D00 files:

• 20% of all D00 files have the same signature Date and Time 20. The contents of these files are partially readable by a human. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 56 KB to 1 MB. The files contain the following words: Compressor Ref.-No, Controller Ref.-No, Date and Time, Software Version, 00:00:00, Setup Code, State, Fault, Ready to Start, Start Inhibit;, DXL-LRS-2 and Motor. Examples of file names are 20180601.d00.
• 9% of all D00 files start with the magic bytes FarStone$CDA_00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The average file size is 70 MB with most files being between 41 MB and 1 GB in size. The files contain the following words: FarStone$CDA_002.
