Opening a DBM File
The DBM file type is primarily associated with Cold Fusion Template.
What is a DBM file?
How to open DBM files
You need a suitable software like Cold Fusion Template to open a DBM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DBM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DBM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

DBM file format details:
To find out what program is needed to open DBM files, you need to determine the file format. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the DBM files:
The DBM file type is a very commonly used file extension and includes many different file formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 15% of all DBM files use the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. Most of these files are 21 KB to 1 MB in size. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, CAUTION: Do not modify this file unless you know what you are doing, Unexpected results may occur if the code is changed deliberately, <dbmodel, <!--xtools2_universal_type_manager-->, XMI xmlns, datamodelversion, http://www.ibm.com/com.ibm.datatools.core/model/data/ and xmi:version="2.0" xmlns:xm. These files are often associated with model, data, physical, fixed, database and modelo.
- 5% of all DBM files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00" at the beginning. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. DBM files are between 24 KB and 410 KB in size. The following filename is common: TOOLDATA.DBM or MACROVAR.DBM. These files are attributed to toolofs.
All other DBM files (80%) have different formats, often e.g. JetDB, SQL, DBM and DLBM. The category is programmliste, list, usrpar, lista, accounts, products, config, legacy, comag or soil. If you want to find out which format your DBM file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .dbm file to analyze".

a dbm template/server script is a special file format by Adobe and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DBM files
- Associate the DBM file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open template/server scripts. Because only the current version supports the latest DBM file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Adobe manufacturer website after an available Cold Fusion Template update.
- To make sure that your DBM file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DBM file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
