What is a DOX file
How do you open DOX files?
You need a suitable software like Doxygen to open a DOX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DOX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DOX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

DOX format details:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the DOX files is as follows:
DOX is not a commonly used file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all DOX files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "2F 2A" at the beginning. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. A typical file size is 6 KB. It is a modern file type. The keywords page, ENABLE and This are typical for these files. A usual file name is ble_api.dox or mainPage.dox. Such DOX files store data about page, tutorial, manual, encoder and demo.
- 5% of all DOX files use the ZIP algorithm, i.e. a DOX file contains several compressed files. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. Most of these files are 2 KB to 53 KB in size.
All other DOX files (35%) have no consistent format. Sometimes used for script. You can get all the details of your DOX file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .dox file to view" above.
