What is a FAT file?

FAT files mostly belong to Zinf by Zinf Project. FAT is the extension used by Zinf theme files. Zinf is an audio player for Linux and Windows. It is based on the FreeAmp source code. the original name of the project, FreeAmp, was changed to Zinf because of trademark issues. FAT stands for FreeAmp Theme. The file stores a skin or theme for Zinf. It is a compressed ZIP archive that contains images and an XML file describing the settings to modify the appearance of the audio player's interface. Since FAT files are ZIP archives, they can be opened by renaming the file extension to ZIP and double-clicking on it or decompressing it using a program for unzipping ZIP archives. To use a FAT file in Zinf, go to Options and select Themes in the dialog box. Click on Add Theme and browse for the required FAT file. After selecting the file, click on Apply. Many free themes are available on the Zinf website for downloading.

How to open a FAT file

You need a suitable software like Zinf to open a FAT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FAT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FAT file directly in the browser:.
