What is an FDF file?

FDF files mostly belong to Acrobat by Adobe. An FDF file contains data collected from the form fields in a PDF document. Such data is saved in Forms Data Format. Unlike PDF documents, an FDF file is saved as plain text which may be parsed by a third-party script and used to populate a database. Alternatively, Acrobat may be setup to send the FDF file to a server when a user submits a form in a PDF document. Another type of FDF file contains product definitions used by Oracle Database. Origin data analysis and visualization software saves a mathematical fitting function definition in a different FDF file.

How do you open FDF files?

You need a suitable software like Acrobat to open an FDF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
