FLD file extension format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. FLD files can be up to 300 MB in size, but are often around 220 KB - 200 MB. The file name orange.fld is characteristic of these files.
