Opening an FS File
The FS file type is primarily associated with Flexi.
What is an FS file?
How do you open FS files?
You need a suitable software like Flexi to open an FS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert FS files:
- Flexi by SAI
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FS files are often referred to as Flexi vector images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- FormSaver (data) by PlinerFormSaver is a W*API plugin for Macintosh web servers. FS is one of the data file formats used by FormSaver. This file format is classified as Data.

- PDT (feature structure) by PDT DeveloperPDT is an obsolete tool used by older computers. Its FS (from "feature structure") file format is its older, simpler and less expressive data format for storing feature structures. This file format is classified as Data.
- RMCProfile (list of the Sulphur neighbors around fluorine atoms.) by RMCProfile Development TeamRMCProfile (Reverse Monte Carlo for crystalline and disordered materials) is a scientific program used to determine the local structure of crystalline materials. It saves a list of the Sulphur neighbors around each fluorine atom in an FS file. This file format is classified as Data.
- Taskmaster (form data) by IBMTaskmaster is an obsolete unified data/document capture program. Its FS file is a structured text file describing the layout (data zones and processing instructions) of one or more forms or page types. These files are often called formspec files. This file format is classified as Data.
- Visual Studio (source code) by MicrosoftVisual Studio is an integrated development environment for building cross-platform applications. This file format is classified as Developer. Related links: F# Download
- ZODB (object database) by ZopeZODB (Zope Object Database) is a Python-based object-oriented database solution. FS is one of its data file types for storing object databases. This file format is classified as Database.
FS format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the FS files:
The FS file extension is quite widespread and is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 55% of all FS files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known by the name OLE2 Compound Document Format or Composite Document File Format. Microsoft Compound File is a complex container format used by some versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows-centric applications. It has features similar to those of a filesystem format. The Compound Document format is always starting with the bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1. The data in this file is stored in streams whose names are FlexiSIGN Contents and OLE Contents. The files are often between 45 KB and 3 MB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. Files like these have the following tags: logo, sign, door, sticker, number, label, signs and vinyl, and often contain personal information.
- 9% of all FS files use the ZIP format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one FS file. 18 to 160 compressed files are common. File names inside are editorConfig.xml, fonts.json, pathtmpl.xml, settingsConfig.xml, settingsConfig.xml.bak, thumbnail.jpg, tt, \extfiles\ext_1.png and \templateFonts\. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. Most of these files are 680 KB to 18 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: editorConfig, rotation, <canvas dpi="72", Focusky ver, currentPath and saveat. Such files sometimes refer to presentation and focusky.
The remaining 36% of all FS files are different files with different signatures, the following 9 formats exist: ZODB File Storage, .NET, EAI and FileSystem. Files like these are sometimes linked to media, install, menu, coloroffset, loxone, models, board or save. If you want to find out what your FS file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

an fs image is a special file format by SAI and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with FS files
- Associate the FS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open images. Because only the current version supports the latest FS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the SAI manufacturer website after an available Flexi update.
- To make sure that your FS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .FS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
