What is an FTP file

FTP files mostly belong to Phasmophobia by Kinetic Games. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, which is an application layer protocol for transferring files between a client and server. The FTP file extension is used by FlashFXP. FlashFXP is a proprietary GUI-based FTP client for the Windows operating system. It supports both client-to-server and server-to-server (FXP) file transfers, as well as SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). The FTP file stores an FTP site configured using the program. It stores information such as the site's name, address, username, password, connection type, login type, and file transfer rules. The information is stored in an XML format. The FTP file is used for backing up and sharing sites. An existing site can be opened in FlashFXP by importing the FTP file in the program. This can be done by first selecting Sites and then Import Sites. Then the FlashFXP XML format is selected from the dropdown menu and the file is selected and imported.

How to open an FTP file

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. It is possible to divide the data into several streams, and to store these streams in different places in the file. In this way compound document files support a complete file system inside the file, the streams are like files in a real file system, and the sections are like subdirectories. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". Sections and streams in the file are named TQDefault. The average file size is 11 KB with most files being between 3 KB and 18 KB in size.
