What is an H file?

H files mostly belong to Eclipse by Eclipse Foundation. H is the filename extension of a header file containing source code written in C, C++, or Objective-C programming language. It comprises function, class, variable, and macro declarations to be shared across multiple source code (e.g. C, CPP, or CC) files. For example, in C++ projects, the implementation or a header (H file) is saved in a CPP file with the same base name. The #include directive is then used to import the header into other CPP files which then gain access to code (functions, classes etc.) implementations defined in other CPP files.

How to open an H file

You need a suitable software like Eclipse to open an H file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your H file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a H file directly in the browser:.
