Opening IVR Files
The IVR file type is primarily associated with RealPlayer.
What is an IVR file?
How can I open an IVR file?
You need a suitable software like RealPlayer to open an IVR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your IVR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a IVR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert IVR files:
- RealPlayer by RealNetworks
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. IVR files are often referred to as RealPlayer videos because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Zoom Viewer (virtual reality live picture) by iSeeMediaZoom Viewer was a browser plugin that enabled users to view and interact with VRML panoramic environments and live pictures embedded in web pages. The VRML pictures were saved as IVR files. This program has been discontinued. This file format is classified as Raster Image.
IVR file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the IVR files:
The IVR file extension is rarely used and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The following file formats are most commonly found in IVR files:
- 85% of all IVR files belong to RealNetworks Internet Video Recording. They consist of unreadable binary data. IVR files are between 1 MB and 87 MB in size. This file type was primarily in use more than 10 years ago. These files are attributed to movie, streaming, deliver, video and show.
- 10% of all IVR files use the same file format, which have the signature #VRML V2.0 utf8 . These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 740 bytes in size and range from 150 bytes to 780 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. #VRML V2.0 utf8, type, pitchRange, EXTERNPROTO Vista [, MFNode, SFString, exposedField, texture and vFov.
All the rest of the IVR files (5%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your IVR file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .ivr file to play".

How to solve problems with IVR files
- Associate the IVR file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open video recordings. Because only the current version supports the latest IVR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the RealNetworks manufacturer website after an available RealPlayer update.
- To make sure that your IVR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .IVR file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
