What is a JS file

JS files mostly belong to Visual Studio Code by Microsoft. A JS file is a script written in JavaScript programming language. It contains source code which performs one or more operations in a desktop, mobile, or web application. JavaScript was originally developed to add interactivity to a web page. It handles operations such as form validation, dynamic content injection etc. The JavaScript engine built into modern web browsers can execute a JS file. Node runtime can execute JS scripts outside a web browser. This makes it possible to develop native mobile and desktop applications with JavaScript. How can I open a JS file?

You need a suitable software like Visual Studio Code to open a JS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
