What is a JSP file?

JSP files mostly belong to Java by Oracle. A JSP document is a dynamic web page written in HTML, XML, and Java languages. This file serves as a template of Java code embedded in HTML and XML markup which Jakarta Server Pages (previously JavaServer Pages) renders to HTML web pages at runtime. A JSP file which renders an ordered list may contain the following:

In some cases, Jakarta Server Pages renames the extension of non-web page documents to JSP.

How to open a JSP file

You need a suitable software like Java to open a JSP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. JSP file format:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. In the following you will find our evaluation of the JSP files:

The JSP file extension is quite widespread and is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:

• 50% of all JSP files store the data in the PDF file format. PDF is short for Portable Document Format, is a file format to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 9 KB to 260 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. Some examples of file names are externalBinary.jsp. These files are attributed to caderneta, predial, external, binary, view, contribuinte, results and exam.
• 15% of all JSP files are based on the popular Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. JSP files can be up to 89 KB in size, but are often around 450 bytes - 10 KB. The files contain the following words: html, text, pageEncoding, charset, page language="java", contentType, taglib, http, prefix, DOCTYPE and UTF-8. The file name index.jsp or Login.jsp is characteristic of these files. These files are often associated with result, home, page, status, order and error.

The remaining 35% of all JSP files are different files with different signatures, often, for example, HTML, XML, config, MHTML, DOC, ZIP, JFIF and PDF. They are often associated with print, receipt, retrievepdf, report, statement or payslip.
