MAG file format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the MAG files looks like this:
The file type with the extension 'MAG' includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 55% of all MAG files start with the magic bytes WTI, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 58 KB to 6 MB in size. The file type was primarily used more than 20 years ago. The keywords .KFh and SCAN2 are typical for these files.
- 10% of all MAG files belong to MAG v2 bitmap. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The average file size is 26 KB with most files being between 8 KB and 43 KB in size. The keywords < MagdSave version 1.05 and MAKI02 Magd > are typical for these files.
All other MAG files (35%) have no uniform format, the following 3 formats can be found: magic. These files are often connected to basic. Just click the "Choose your .mag file to view this image" button on this page to find out what your MAG file is.
