Opening a MIDI File
The MIDI file type is primarily associated with Windows Media Player.
What is a MIDI file?
These files contain instructions that tell software or hardware what notes to play, when to play them, and which instrument sounds to use. They rely on event messages to indicate note on/off, duration, and control changes.
How to open a MIDI file
You need a suitable software like Windows Media Player to open a MIDI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MIDI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MIDI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
