What is an MS file?

MS files mostly belong to 3DS Max by Autodesk. An MS file is a script written in MaxScript, the scripting language bundled with 3DS Max design/animation program. This script may be used to automate modeling, animation, material generation, and rendering operations in 3DS Max. The same MS script may be used to customize export/import tools and interfaces. MS is also the filename extension of a multi-step rendering job script used by Maxwell 3D graphics engine. How to open MS files

You need a suitable software like 3DS Max to open an MS file. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. 20% of all MS files start with the magic bytes 01 32 00 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The first 8 bytes of the CFB format are D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). MS files contain an app name Microsoft Word or Windows Installer XML Toolset. There is also a CLSID, a globally-unique identifier of a COM (Component Object Model) object: 000c1084-0000-0000-c000-000000000046 or 00020d0b-0000-0000-c000-000000000046. The internal containers are called SummaryInformation. The average file size is 690 KB with most files being between 51 KB and 9 MB in size.
