What is an NSC file?

NSC files mostly belong to 7-Zip.

• NeuroSky Data File: Many NSC files are built as a ZIP container that holds NeuroSky sensor or biofeedback data. Companies like Algo_X and NeoStudio use this format to store output from brain‐activity devices.

NSC file format:

To find out what program is needed to open NSC files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our examination of the NSC files comes to the following conclusion:

NSC is rarely used as a file extension and includes various formats for various programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 30% of all NSC files use ZIP compression, that is, an NSC file includes multiple compressed files. Primarily 87 to 132 files are included. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. Most of these files are 1 MB to 27 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Algo_X_Advanced_Hemodynamics. 2020-06-01 10.30.nsc is a typical file name. These files are attributed to resperate, brythm and study.
• 10% of all NSC files start with the magic bytes <## NASCA DRM FILE - VER1.00 ##>, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are on average 290 KB in size and range from 4 KB to 1 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: <## NASCA DRM FILE - VER1.00 ##>.
