What is an ODG file?

ODG files mostly belong to Draw by Apache. ODG is the filename extension of documents containing drawings stored in the OpenDocument Format for Office Applications (ODF). It is the native file format for saving vector graphics created by various programs on Linux. Like other subtypes of the OpenDocument format, ODG drawings are saved as ZIP-compressed data. The Internet media type for ODG files are application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics and application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics. Draw vector graphics editors in LibreOffice and OpenOffice are the main programs for creating ODG drawings but the format is supported by various image/word processing programs such as OpenDocument Reader, GIMP, Inkscape, and Trio Office.

How to open ODG files

You need a suitable software like Draw to open an ODG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ODG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ODG file directly in the browser:. Common included file names are content.xml, meta.xml, mimetype, settings.xml, styles.xml, \Configurations2\, \Configurations2\accelerator\, \Configurations2\accelerator\current.xml, \Configurations2\floater\, \Configurations2\images\, \Configurations2\images\Bitmaps\, \Configurations2\menubar\, \Configurations2\popupmenu\, \Configurations2\progressbar\, \Configurations2\statusbar\, \Configurations2\toolbar\, \Configurations2\toolpanel\, \META-INF\manifest.xml and \Thumbnails\. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. A typical file size is 100 KB. The files contain the following words: mimetypeapplication/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphicsPK, Configurations2/menubar/PK and Configurations2/progressbar/PK. Such files are related to logo, misc, plan, carte, form, speiseplan, open, lebenslauf, lohnsteuer, vorlage, chart and fiche.
