What is an ORF file?

ORF files mostly belong to Olympus Workspace by Olympus. ORF is the filename extension of high-resolution photographs stored in the proprietary RAW image format used by digital cameras manufactured by Olympus. The structure of ORF format is similar to TIFF but ORF files have different signatures depending on the camera used to capture the image. The contents of an ORF file begin with an IIRO, MMOR, or IIRS signature. The full-size RAW image stored in the file is embedded in the first IFD tag. Text, EXIF data, and camera metadata may be saved alongside the graphical data stored in an ORF file. Because cameras store ORF images as minimally processed; uncompressed files, these images are not suitable for viewing without further processing. ORF format is suitable for developing professionally shot photos using programs such as Olympus Workspace, Photoshop, or PaintShop. How to open ORF files

You need a suitable software like Olympus Workspace to open an ORF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
