What is a PM file?

PM files mostly belong to Padre by Padre Contributors. PM filename extension is used by modules containing source code written in Perl programming language. This PM file comprises a series of functions, variables, classes, and namespaces that can be exported and used in other Perl scripts or modules. PM filename extension is also used to store bitmaps created with xv, a UNIX-based program for viewing and editing images. Presentation Mangager, a graphical user interface for OS/2 operating system and some graphics programs on the X Window System also use xv's command-line libraries to view and create bitmaps saved in PM format. Before its discontinuation, Pagemaker, a graphics design program used a different PM file format to store design documents. Star Wars: Rebel Assault arcade video game also stores game data (sounds, textures, and maps) in PM container files.

PM file format details:

To view or edit PM files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below is our analysis of the PM files:
