What is a PMD file?

PMD files mostly belong to InDesign by Adobe. PMD file extension is mainly associated with 3D morphs data created using Poser, a 3D modeler and renderer for creating photorealistic 3D characters. The PMD morph file contains binary data representing the posture, motion states, gestures and other morph-related data of a 3D character model. MikuMiuDance (MMD), a dance animation app, uses PMD files to store 3D meshes used by the 3D animated or texturized dancers. Pegasus Mail, an email client for Windows computers stores user-defined dictionaries in PMD files. PlanMaker, a spreadsheet program bundled with SoftMaker Office, stores data, formulas, and charts in sheets made up of rows and columns in PMD files. PageMaker, a discontinued desktop publishing software by Adobe, stored documents in PMD (PageMaker Document) format. Such PMD files consisted of rich text data, drawings, images, and other file types. Some versions of InDesign can be used to open PMD documents.

How to open a PMD file

If you cannot open your PMD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PMD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PMD file format details:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below you will find our evaluation of the PMD files:

The PMD extension is very commonly found and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. However, the following two file formats are common:

All other PMD files (7%) have different formats, often e.g. ZIP, JPG, JetDB, Pmd and vertex. Files like these are sometimes linked to english, paper, chap, form, maths, chapter, project, tatva or bill. If you want to find out what your PMD file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
