Opening a PPZ File

The PPZ file type is primarily associated with Poser.

PPZFile Extension PPZ
File extension: PPZ
File type:  compressed prop

What is a PPZ file?

PPZ files mostly belong to Poser by Bondware. The PPZ file extension is usually found as a compressed prop created using Poser, a 3D design software for creating 3D models. A PPZ file is derived from an uncompressed prop file having PP2 file extension and it contains geometry data or embedded information used by a referenced OBJ file. In addition, 1997 to 2002 editions of PowerPoint stored PPT presentations in PPZ archives called packaged presentations. Archives having the PPZ file extension use the zip format and application/ppt or application/mspowerpoint MIME types.

How to open a PPZ file

You need a suitable software like Poser to open a PPZ file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PPZ file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PPZ file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PPZ files:

  1. Poser by Bondware
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PPZ files are often referred to as Poser 3d images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
  2. PowerPoint (packaged presentation) by Microsoft
PowerPoint is a software that ships with Office Suite developed by Windows. The program is used to create and view slides for presentations. Objects or documents created using PowerPoint can be stored in different file formats. Its older versions could store multiple PPT files as PPZ packaged presentations. This file format is classified as Compressed. Related links: File Format Reference For word, Excel, and PowerPoint

PPZ file format:

To view or edit PPZ files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the PPZ files:

An PPZ file mainly uses a special format. However, the following two file formats are common:

The remaining 10% of all PPZ files are files with no common format, frequently e.g. ZIP. Sometimes used for pptx, powerpoint or fabric. If you want to find out which format your PPZ file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .ppz file to analyze".

How to solve problems with PPZ files

  • Associate the PPZ file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open compressed props. Because only the current version supports the latest PPZ file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Bondware manufacturer website after an available Poser update.
  • To make sure that your PPZ file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
