Opening a PT File
The PT file type is primarily associated with flair.
What is a PT file?
How to open a PT file
You need a suitable software like flair to open a PT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PT file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the PT files looks like this:
The PT extension is very commonly found and includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 45% of all PT files use the same file format, which have the signature 80 02 8A 0A 6C FC 9C 46 F9 20 6A A8 50 19 2E 80. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 100 KB to 240 MB in size, with a median of 17 MB. The file type is relatively new. The keywords intq, little_endianq, longq, protocol_versionq, shortq, type_sizesq, ccollections, OrderedDict and ctorch are typical for these files. An example of a file name is test.pt. Files like these are sometimes connected to model, training, cnndm, train, best, epoch, data and checkpoint.
- 35% of all PT files are based on the zip format, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one PT file. Primarily 3 to 260 files are included. Common included file names are \archive\data.pkl and \archive\version. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are often between 33 KB and 170 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, archive/data.pklFB, _rebuild_tensor_v2, ctorch._utils, storageq, ccollections and OrderedDict. An example of a file name is best.pt or test.pt. Files like these are about yolo, alast, weights, last, metrics, resnet, mnist and state.
All other PT files (20%) have no uniform format, often, for example, Kodak Precision Transform, PassMark PerformanceTest, JFIF, GZIP, PDF, JSON, DOC and POINT. Often described as demo, step, pretrained, tacotron, vocab or wiki. If you want to find out what your PT file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

How to solve problems with PT files
- Associate the PT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open models. Because only the current version supports the latest PT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the flair manufacturer website after an available flair update.
- To make sure that your PT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
