What is a QIF file?

QIF files mostly belong to Quicken by Intuit. QIF filename extension is primarily associated with text files stored in Quicken Interchange Format which is used to store and distribute financial data. The contents of QIF files can include transaction type (cash, bank etc.), transaction data, amount, recipient, etc. Personal finance management programs such as GnuCash and Quicken can import user's account and bank transaction details stored in QIF format.
