What is an RGB file
How to open an RGB file
You need a suitable software like PaintShop to open an RGB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RGB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RGB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

RGB file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the RGB files is as follows:
RGB is one of the most common file extensions and is used by different programs with different formats. The file formats most commonly found in RGB files are:
- 25% of all RGB files belong to Silicon Graphics RGB bitmap. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The file size is in the range of 4 KB to 1 MB. The file type is very old but is also used today. Such RGB files store data about image, palette, avatar, panel, texture, tlla, transparent, stripes, wingtop, common, crypto, office, color, flat, tmla and wall.
- 4% of all RGB files start with the magic bytes ncolors, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. Most of these files are 210 bytes to 3 KB in size. The files contain the following words: ncolors and # r g b. These files can be linked to sirkes.
All other RGB files (71%) have no uniform format, the following 6 formats exist: FOR and ncolors. These files sometimes refer to logo, frame, figure, output, precip, conv or icon. You can get all the details of your RGB file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .rgb file to view this image" above.

an rgb image is a special file format by Corel and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with RGB files
- Associate the RGB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open images. Because only the current version supports the latest RGB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Corel manufacturer website after an available PaintShop update.
- To make sure that your RGB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .RGB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
