What is an SB file

SB files mostly belong to Scratch. SB files do not belong to a single format. They are used by several applications and serve different roles.

SB file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). The average file size is 7 KB with most files being between 500 bytes and 130 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. SBIN, ENUM, STRU, FIEL, OHDR and DATA. A common filename is BinaryVersion.sb or layouts.sb. Files like these have the following tags: prefabs, binary, save, character, nfstr, selection and database.

All other SB files (65%) have no uniform format, often, for example, hsqs, HREC, TextWindow and GraphicsWindow.
