Opening SCP Files

The SCP file type is primarily associated with SCAR Divi.

SCPFile Extension SCP
File extension: SCP
File type:  macro script

What is an SCP file?

SCP files mostly belong to SCAR Divi by Frédéric Hannes. SCP is the filename extension of macro scripts used by SCAR Divi software for the purpose of automating various operations on a Windows computer. SCP filename extension is also associated with the Standard Communications Protocol for Computer Assisted Electrocardiography (SCP-ECG) file format used to store and interchange electrocardiography (ECG) data, annotations, and metadata across medical applications, networks, and machines. The configuration of InfiniiVision X-series oscilloscopes such as the 3000 and 3000T models are saved in text-based SCP files. The contents of such SCP files are written in XML-like syntax and wrapped in a <setup> tag containing other tags for SCPI command and control sections. SuperCard Pro, a disk archiving software, uses SCP as the filename extension for its flux image format used to store disk images such as those containing Amiga video games.

How to open an SCP file

You need a suitable software like SCAR Divi to open an SCP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SCP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SCP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

SCP file extension format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the SCP files:

The SCP file extension is quite common and covers different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in SCP files are:

All the rest of the SCP files (40%) have different formats, frequently e.g. SuperCard Pro flux image, 7z, ZIP, Oscilloscope and LuaP. They are often associated with exported, project, design or disk. Just click the "Choose your .scp file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your SCP file is.

an scp macro script is a special file format by Frédéric Hannes and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with SCP files

  • Associate the SCP file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open macro scripts. Because only the current version supports the latest SCP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Frédéric Hannes manufacturer website after an available SCAR Divi update.
  • To make sure that your SCP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .SCP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
