What is an SGM file?

SGM files mostly belong to Visual Boy Advance by VBA Team. An SGM file contains a structured text document written in Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML). It contains text written in XML-like syntax. Technical material authoring programs such as FrameMaker and XMetaL can export SGML-encoded documents as an SGM file. SGM is also the filename extension of a document saved in Encoded Archival Description (EAD). This type of SGM file is also saved in XML-like format but it is mainly used in archival systems.
