What is a SITX file

SITX files mostly belong to StuffIt by Smith Micro. Files that have the SITX extension are generated by the StuffIt X compression software.

Compression: The SITX format makes it possible for large files to be compressed. For a higher compression ratio, it uses ATOM compression technology, thereby achieving higher rates of compression than regular SIT compression. SITX files are generated and used by version 7 of the Stuffit Expander for MAC or version 8 of Stuffit Deluxe for Windows.
Encryption: The SITX file format combines file compression and file security. Encrypted files contain a duplicate of the document generated and encoding is done by a 512-bit encryption to ensure safety.
Development: The SITX format was developed by Raymond Lau for Aladdin systems which was acquired and now owned by Smith Micro Systems. SITX files are also compatible with Drop Stuff.

How to open SITX files

You need a suitable software like StuffIt to open a SITX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
