What is an SKT file?

SKT files mostly belong to Sketchbook Pro. Primary use: SKT files are most commonly used as sketch files created by Sketchbook Pro. They are stored as compressed archives (often via ZIP) and can function as backup files or project files that keep drawing data intact.

How to open an SKT file

You need a suitable software like Sketchbook Pro to open an SKT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the SKT files:

SKT is rarely used as a file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 35% of all SKT files use ZIP compression, so several files are compressed and saved in one SKT file. Primarily 4 to 6 files are included. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. The files are on average 2 MB in size and range from 270 KB to 6 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Layer, Sketches and pngUT. Files like these are about sketches.
• 15% of all SKT files use the same file format, which have the signature SEEK. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The file size is in the range of 8 KB to 330 KB. The keywords SEEK are typical for these files. A usual file name is 01 TMatJ pt1.skt. Files like these have the following tags: track and rush, and often contain personal information.
