What is an SXW file?

SXW files mostly belong to Writer by Apache. An SXW file is a text document created by the Writer word processor in StarOffice and OpenOffice productivity software suite. An SXW file is saved in OpenDocument format so, an SXW file is actually a compressed ZIP archive. It contains XML-encoded text and metadata (formatting and layout information) saved alongside images and objects which make up the document. StarOffice is discontinued but SXW format was supported until version OpenOffice version 3.

How do you open SXW files?
