Opening T Files
The T file type is primarily associated with Adobe Photoshop.
What is a T file?
- JPEG Thumbnail File - The most common use shows these files store image previews using the JPG format. Programs like Adobe Photoshop generate these small images.
- OpenDocument Text File - A T file contains a zipped text document. These files are created by Microsoft Office and are stored as a compressed archive. See more at Office webpage.
- Firmware Update File - some of T files hold a Xiaomi firmware image, often seen with a GZIP-compressed structure and managed by tools like RepairMyMobile.
- PDF Document - Some T files are PDF documents, and they run under the structure used by Adobe Acrobat Reader. Additional details are available at Adobe Reader.
- Memory Trace / Perl Test File - some serve as memory trace files for debugging or testing, typically generated by Valgrind. Check out Valgrind website for more info.
- Timestamp File - A small share is used to store temporary timestamp data.
The purpose of a T file depends on the internal format used by the application that created it.
To open and view a T file, you must know its structure. For example, if it is a JPEG thumbnail, use an image viewer such as Adobe Photoshop. If it is a PDF or zipped document, open it with a PDF reader or office suite.
FilExt.com tip: A tool like a hex editor or a file identification command can help determine the exact type if the file does not open with your usual program.
How to open T files
You need a suitable software like Adobe Photoshop to open a T file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your T file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a T file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

T file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the T files produces the following result:
The T file type is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 25% of all T files store the data in the JFIF file format. JFIF is short for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is a bitmap graphic that uses JPEG compression. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 43 KB. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: JFIF, !22222222222, $.' ",# and '9=82<.342. Some examples of file names are fear.t or hope.t. Such T files store data about escape, patience, despair, thanks and none.
- 7% of all T files are using the well-known GZIP file format to store the data. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 1 GB to 2 GB in size. Examples of file names are Redmi_4_RepairMyMobile_prada_global_images_V9.6.1.0.MCEMIFD_20180601.0000.00_6.0.t or Redmi_3s_RepairMyMobile_land_global_images_V9.5.8.0.MALMIFD_20180601.0000.00_6.0.t. These files are attributed to mymobile, global, images, repair, redmi, malmifd, mcemifd, prada and land.
All other T files (68%) have no consistent format, the following 6 formats exist: ZIP, PDF, Secret and fff. The category is localmodel, india, nckmifd, pdmmixm, sakura, body or riva. If you want to find out what your T file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
