What is a TARGA file?

TARGA files mostly belong to Illustrator by Adobe. TARGA (short for Truevision Advanced Raster Graphics Adapter) is a raster graphics file format that was originally used by TARGA and VISTA graphics cards. Images saved in TARGA file format can have 8, 15, 16, 24, or 32 bits of precision per pixel. The image data may be stored as an uncompressed raw image or compressed using Run-length Encoding (RLE).
