All about TPP Files
The TPP file type is primarily associated with TouchPortal.
What is a TPP file?
TouchPortal Plugin Package files, for instance, are compacted as ZIP archives that include data, scripts, and other resources for TouchPortal. They are designed to extend the application's functions.
Other TPP files work as plugins for Total Commander. These files integrate additional features into the file manager environment.
Some TPP files use an XML format. This is seen in Topaz Labs preset files and in encrypted XML packages from TracerPlus, which store preset or configuration data.
Additionally, there are TPP files that serve as C++ template implementation files. These are used as source code templates in environments like the Arduino IDE and C++ Builder.
There is even a use case for a teleprompter text file used by Teleprompter Pro, where the file holds script text for scrolling display.
Key Uses:
- TouchPortal Plugin Package – A ZIP archive that packages plugins for TouchPortal (Touch Portal).
- Total Commander Plugin – Files that enhance Total Commander's functionality (Ghisler Plugins).
- Topaz Labs Preset – XML-based files used in Topaz Studio (Topaz Labs).
- C++ Template Implementation – Source code templates utilized by the Arduino IDE and C++ Builder (Arduino | C++ Builder).
- Teleprompter Text File – Plain text files used in Teleprompter Pro.
How do you open TPP files?

TPP file format:
To view or edit TPP files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the TPP files:
The file type with the extension 'TPP' is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 35% of all TPP files use the ZIP algorithm, so several files are compressed and saved in one TPP file. The number of files included is on average 7 and ranges from 3 to 120. Common included file names are Manifest.json. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are 8 KB to 7 MB in size, with a median of 2 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: ProjectInfo.json. Some examples of file names are translation.tpp. These files are attributed to plugin, portal, touch, visa, certification, verifone, extended, spotify, trinity, cert and msfs.
- 15% of all TPP files are associated with Teleport Pro 1. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are 4 KB to 570 KB in size, with a median of 29 KB. Such TPP files store data about cbtricks.
The remaining 50% of all TPP files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. XML and Source. Files like these are sometimes linked to tiny, circular, tabs, smoothing, faaeish, buffer, effect, queue, topaz, skin or soft. Just click the "Choose your .tpp file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your TPP file is.

How to solve problems with TPP files
- Associate the TPP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open plugin packages. Because only the current version supports the latest TPP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available TouchPortal update.
- To make sure that your TPP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .TPP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
