Opening a TRS File
The TRS file type is primarily associated with ALS Linear Saw.
What is a TRS file?
- Rosetta Stone: This program, developed by Rosetta Stone in 1992, is a proprietary computer-assisted language learning software. It uses different teaching methods, mainly multimedia content, images, sound, videos, and text, helping users to learn a new language using spaced repetition with no translation included. These TRS files use encoding specifications that are proprietary to Rosetta Stone, the utility and the TRS format. It is worth noting that the filename or the extension of these files should not be changed, intentionally or not, as it will stop the software from running properly.
- Other Uses: The TRS format is also associated with Linear Saw Component Information archives used by Alpine Engineering and WinTrack Railroad track text files created by WinTrack, a railway design program. These are similar to TRA files with the only difference being that TRS files are saved in text format. These programs use TRS files to save their 3D or 2D models in text format.
How to open a TRS file
You need a suitable software like ALS Linear Saw to open a TRS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TRS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TRS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert TRS files:
- ALS Linear Saw by Alpine Engineering
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. TRS files are often referred to as ALS Linear Saw settings because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Designer (executable file) by CorelDesigner by Corel is a vector-based graphic designing software. The TRS format is an exeutable file used by Designer. Designer was previously developed and distributed by Micrografx. The software has now been replaced by CorelDRAW. This file format is classified as Executable. - Erosion 3D (temporal event file) by GeognosticsErosion 3D is a soil erosion simulation software. The TRS files in Erosion 3D are temporal event files. This file format is classified as Data.
- Rosetta Stone Language Learning (configuration file) by Rosetta StoneRosetta Stone Language Learning is a Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) application. TRS files contain information about installed languages or configuration settings for Rosetta Stone Language Learning. This file format is classified as Settings. - TrIDNet (serialized definitions package file) by Marco PontelloTrIDNet is the Graphical User Interface (GUI) version of the command line program TrID. TrID uses binary signatures to identify file types. The TRS file format stores serialized definitions packages in TrIDNet. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: TrID, TrID Online
- TURBU (script file) by Mason WheelerTurbu is a game engine for creating and playing Role Playing Games (RPGs). TRS files store scripts that are used by the Turbu editor. This file format is classified as Executable. Related links: About TURBU, TURBU Repository, TURBU Documentation
- WinTrack (railway track layout file) by WinTrackWinTrack is a railway track layout design program. The TRS files used by WinTrack contain the railway track design in a text-based format. This file format is classified as Simple text file. Related links: German Website, WinTrack German Wiki
TRS file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the TRS files:
An TRS file is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all TRS files use the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are on average 20 KB in size and range from 380 bytes to 130 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: Trans scribe, audio_filename, <!DOCTYPE Trans SYSTEM "trans-14.dtd">, version_date and <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>. 20180601.TRS is a typical file name. Files like these have the following tags: music and eslo.
- 20% of all TRS files internally utilize the UTF-16 (LE) file format. UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). The contents of these files are partially readable with a text editor. The files are on average 8 KB in size and range from 3 KB to 18 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: <ContentFile ProgID="FTR.TREdge.ContentFile.TRM" Version="5.1"><PropertyCollection><Property Name=". Such files are related to courtroom.
The remaining 60% of all TRS files are files with no common format, frequently e.g. TrIDNet serialized definitions package. They are often associated with translation, endevor, tsgoods or pwar. If you want to find out what your TRS file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for TRS File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\CSPro 3.1\TRSWIN.EXE
a trs cutting information file is a special file format by Alpine Engineering and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with TRS files
- Associate the TRS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open cutting information files. Because only the current version supports the latest TRS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Alpine Engineering manufacturer website after an available ALS Linear Saw update.
- To make sure that your TRS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .TRS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
