Opening a WRI File
The WRI file type is primarily associated with WordPad.
What is a WRI file?
How to open a WRI file
You need a suitable software like WordPad to open a WRI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your WRI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a WRI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

- WordPad by Microsoft
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. WRI files are often referred to as WordPad simple text files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Write (text document) by MicrosoftWrite is a discontinued word processing application for Windows desktop. It uses a WRI file to store a text document. This file format is classified as Page Layout.
WRI file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the WRI files:
The WRI file extension is not found very often and is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in WRI files:
- 50% of all WRI files are associated with Windows Write Document. The content also consists of readable text fragments, which can be viewed with the help of a text editor. Most of these files are 1 KB to 25 KB in size. The file type was used 20 years ago. A common filename is README.WRI. Files like these are sometimes connected to letter.
- 6% of all WRI files have the same signature OER106 . These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 650 bytes. The following keywords are characteristic: OER106 SCHUSTER ELECTRONICS Page 1 and 21 Release. The following filename is common: QPRINT2.wri or QPRINT2.wri.
The remaining 44% of all WRI files are files with no common format, often, for example, RTF. These files sometimes refer to read, list or support. Just click the "Choose your .wri file to view" button on this page to find out what your WRI file is.
