If you cannot open your XLAM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a XLAM file directly in the browser:. XLAM file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the XLAM files is as follows:
The XLAM file type is a very commonly used file extension and mainly uses a defined XLAM format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 90% of all XLAM files use ZIP compression, so several files are compressed and saved in one XLAM file. XLAM files contain from 10 to 30 compressed files. Customary file names are [Content_Types].xml, \_rels\.rels, \docProps\app.xml, \docProps\core.xml, \xl\_rels\workbook.xml.rels, \xl\styles.xml, \xl\theme\theme1.xml and \xl\workbook.xml. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. A typical file size is 55 KB. The files contain the following words: [Content_Types].xml. Files like these have the following tags: number, spell, tool, stats, excel, xreal, list, addin, form and xlsx.
- 5% of all XLAM files use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also called Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This is a complex container format used by earlier versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows programs. Compound files always start with the bytes ÐÏࡱá (hex code D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1). They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 470 KB in size and range from 29 KB to 830 KB.
All other XLAM files (5%) have different formats. The category is password, terbilang, macros, tools, data or plan. If you want to find out what your XLAM file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
