What is an ADG file

ADG files mostly belong to Live by Ableton. ADG files are usually Device Group files used by Live music composition, production, and live performance software. These files store presets for device groups in Ableton Live 5 and for different racks in newer versions of Live. A preset contains racks (e.g. drum racks or audio effect racks). The format allows Ableton Live users to combine different plugins into a single group, making it easier to manage them. In this capacity, ADG files simplify reuse; making it easier for artists to add previously created groups to new projects. Device groups are always a single chain of devices. 3DS MAX 3D modeling and animation software uses a different type of ADG file to export 3D models.

How to open an ADG file

You need a suitable software like Live to open an ADG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ADG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ADG file directly in the browser:.
