Opening an AEP File
The AEP file type is primarily associated with After Effects.
What is an AEP file?
How to open AEP files
You need a suitable software like After Effects to open an AEP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AEP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AEP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

AEP file format:
To find out what program is needed to open AEP files, you need to determine the file format. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the AEP files is as follows:
The AEP extension is very commonly used. This AEP file itself is among the most popular common file types and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 97% of all AEP files are After Effects Project files, which are based on the RIFX file format. The RIFX format is an eXtended RIFF format. RIFF files store data in tagged chunks. There are primarily used to store multimedia such as sound and video. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The file size is in the range of 210 KB to 13 MB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The files contain the following words: LIST, RIFX, adfr, nhed, Egg!svap, nnhd, qtlg, head, ADBE and acer. Such files sometimes refer to logo, intro, template, animation, project, reveal, pack and slideshow.
The remaining 3% of all AEP files are files with no common format. These files sometimes refer to promo, titles, video, tmpaetoameproject, animated or opener. If you want to find out which format your AEP file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .aep file to analyze".

- To make sure that your AEP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .AEP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
