File extension: BAD
File type:  undelivered email

What is a BAD file?

BAD files mostly belong to Exchange by Microsoft. A BAD file contains a text-encoded email message saved in native SMTP format. This file is generated and saved in the Badmail/ folder alongside its related BDP (diagnostic message) and BDR (error code) when Exchange is unable to deliver an email. Another type of BAD file contains records rejected by Oracle Database or its SQL*Loader component. SQL*Loader rejects a record when the input format is invalid. The Sims 3 video game uses a BAD file to store a player's current position. Delta Force tactical shooter video game uses a different BAD file to save game character bone animation data.

How do you open BAD files?

You need a suitable software like Exchange to open a BAD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your BAD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a BAD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
