What is a CFC file?

CFC files mostly belong to ColdFusion Builder by Adobe. A CFC file is a web application component written in ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML). A CFC file contains HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript code saved alongside custom tags, server-side functions, database commands, and templates embedded in "" tags. Adobe products such as ColdFusion Builder are the primary tools for creating CFC files. Third-party code editors may also be used to create or edit a CFC component file. Another type of CFC file contains game data used by Yakuza Kiwami 2 action-adventure video game for PC and game consoles.

How do you open CFC files?

You need a suitable software like ColdFusion Builder to open a CFC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To find out what program is needed to open CFC files, you need to determine the file format. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. The CFC file extension is rather rarely used and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 30% of all CFC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "CFCI" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. CFC files can be up to 1 MB in size, but are often around 460 KB - 1 MB. It is a modern file type. The keywords default, CFCI, E_AIZ, CFCI!, E_AKI, E_AIZ_b, E_AIZ_sync, E_AIZ_sync_b, E_AIZ_sync_f, E_AMON_B, E_AMON_K, E_AMON_M, E_AMON_P, E_AMON_W, E_ARM_A, E_ARM_A_b, E_ARM_B, E_ARM_B_KNIFE and E_ARM_B_b are typical for these files. A usual file name is fighter_command.cfc. Such files sometimes refer to command and fighter.
• 15% of all CFC files store the data in the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files contain text and words, not binary data. CFC files can be up to 240 KB in size, but are often around 930 bytes - 64 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. cffunction name, false, cfset, output, returntype, access, cfcomponent displayname and this. Application.cfc is a typical file name. These files are often associated with services.
